Advent Lutheran Church

The Advent Quilters meet every Wednesday. We invite you to come sit, sew and fellowship with us.

Advent quilters make a variety of items from quilts to tablecloths and much more. The recipients of these quilts are hospitalized members, new babies, Lutheran Social Services, and Lutheran World Relief. We also host an annual quilt sale in the fall and proceeds from the event go to continued missions in the community. We use the gift of our hands to connect with others and give back to those in need and we invite you to join this wonderful opportunity.

In the Fellowship Hall — 9:30-Noon on Wednesdays.

We welcome anyone 20 years of age up to 100. We are open to members of Advent Lutheran Church and non-members. There are many skills needed in the construction of a quilt and many opportunities to contribute for veterans and those who want to learn. So, stop by and meet our wonderful group of dynamic women as we welcome your gift for this mission.

“Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and prosper for us the work of our hands — O prosper the work of our hands.”

~ Psalm 90:17

We Create:

Lutheran World Relief Quilts

LWR quilts are sent all over the world for warmth or shelter; for holding market displays or carrying when fleeing war zones.

Advent Baby Quilts

Quilts are given to each baby baptized at Advent.

Lap Quilts

Quilts are made for Advent members who are hospitalized, are in nursing care or are homebound.

Sale Items

We create quilts for our Quilt Sale. Money raised is used to replenish quilting supplies. Extra is donated to church needs: Youth activities, Pastor's discretionary fund, capital funds, and preschool scholarships.

Our Meetings are usually held in the Fellowship Hall, from 9:30-Noon, every Wednesday, with some exceptions.

At our meetings, we:

  • tie quilts and hand sew bindings
  • layer quilts
  • hand quilt specialty quilts
  • learn new techniques
  • socialize, share a short devotional and snack.

You can help us at home by:

  • making quilt tops (see quilt sizes).
  • saving any cotton fabric remnants.
  • saving still usable king and queen sheets.
